The Steady Fire started on July 30, 2026, in Carson County and was initially responded to by local fire departments. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters and heavy equipment at 11:45 am and quickly responded. Texas A&M Forest Service is currently in unified command with local fire departments. Aviation resources have been ordered to assist and are assisting in suppression efforts. 

FINAL UPDATE July 30, 2026 8:40 p.m. - The Steady Fire is 100% contained. All state resources have been released from the fire.
