FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Personal data from over 1,000 In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) clients was accessed in a Fresno County Department of Social Services security breach.
The compromised data includes 1,114 first and last names and case numbers, 636 phone numbers, and 6 addresses and client information numbers.
The anomalous activity was discovered on June 2, but according to county officials, the information was accessed nearly a year ago, on August 26, 2025, by a former employee.
At this time, they say there is no indication that the information has been misused. They add that immediate measures were implemented to prevent further access to information.
Those impacted were notified by mail; however, anyone else who believes they were impacted is encouraged to:
- Review credit reports for any unfamiliar activity.
- Place a fraud alert with the major credit bureaus (Experian: 1-888-397-3742,
TransUnion: 1-800-680-7289 and Equifax: 1-866-640-2277). - Change passwords for any online accounts that use the same credentials.
- Consider enrolling in a credit-monitoring service.
