FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man was injured after falling from a tree while allegedly attempting to rescue a pet cat on the San Joaquin River bottom near Riverside Golf Course Sunday, according to the Fresno Fire Department.

Fire officials say around 3:30 p.m., firefighters found the man who had suffered injuries after falling from a tree while reportedly attempting to rescue a cat. 

The Fresno Fire Department’s Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Team responded, and firefighters carried the injured man up from the river bottom. 

The man was transported to a local hospital.
