New Community United Methodist Church (NCUMC) in Oakhurst is pleased to announce the appointment of Pastor Keith Calara, who began serving the congregation on July 1, 2026.
Pastor Calara joins NCUMC after serving First United Methodist Church of Napa and working for One LA-IAF, a coalition of nonprofit organizations and faith communities in Los Angeles. For him, the life of faith is one of prayer, service, and the occasional scoop of ice cream.
NCUMC is a Reconciling Congregation, affirming and welcoming people of every age, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, family structure, ability, and background. The church believes God’s love is for everyone, and all are invited to participate fully in the life of the congregation.
The church is committed to serving the wider community, offering a free community lunch every Wednesday and Saturday when the church’s thrift shop is open. The church also maintains a small community food pantry to help neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
Everyone in the mountain community is invited to meet Pastor Calara and join the congregation for Sunday worship at 10 a.m. Whether you are looking for a church home, returning to church after time away, or simply seeking a welcoming place to worship, you are invited to come as you are.
