VISALIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A group of five teenage inmates beat up another inmate in Visalia on Friday, deputies say.

According to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, the inmates, who were all 16 years old, beat up another inmate, a 17-year-old, inside the Tulare County Juvenile Detention Center.

Deputies were called to the detention center at around 1 p.m. and discovered that the 17-year-old who was attacked received severe injuries to his head. The victim was taken to a local hospital.

The five 16-year-old suspects, who have not been officially identified, were arrested on felony assault charges.
