OAKHURST, CA – After winter weather forced the postponement of its February gathering, Helping One Woman Oakhurst is inviting the community to come together in March to celebrate compassion, resilience, and support for a local woman in need.
The nonprofit will honor Lisa Schneider, originally selected as the February recipient, during a dinner scheduled for Tuesday, March 17 at the Sierra Senior Center. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner served at 6 p.m.

Organizers say postponing the February event due to snow was disappointing but necessary. With improved conditions, they are looking forward to gathering safely while continuing the organization’s mission of providing emotional and financial support to local women facing significant loss. Schneider is being sponsored by Laura Lynch Gonzalez.
Helping One Woman dinners follow a simple model: attendees purchase prepaid meal tickets, then contribute a minimum $10 gift at the door, which goes directly to the honored recipient. Raffle prizes, desserts, and auction proceeds from the evening also benefit Schneider.
This month’s dinner will be catered by Bee’s Bakery Cafe, offering guests a choice between spaghetti aglio e olio with grilled chicken or roasted pork loin with rice pilaf, both served with salad, focaccia, and dessert. A vegetarian option is available.
Event organizers emphasize that prepaid reservations are required and seating is limited, with no tickets sold at the door. The reservation deadline is Saturday, March 14 at 10 p.m.
Beyond the meal itself, the evening is designed to foster community connection. Guests can participate in raffles and auctions, contribute desserts or prize items, and learn more about the organization’s nomination process. Helping One Woman dinners are open to the broader public — attendees do not need to personally know the recipient to participate, and families are welcome.
At the end of the evening, Schneider will draw the name of the organization’s April recipient, continuing the cycle of community support.
Local organizers say the heart of Helping One Woman’s mission lies not only in financial assistance, but in the shared compassion and emotional encouragement offered during each gathering.
Community members interested in attending or contributing can find ticket information and additional details through the organization’s event registration page.
