DOJ: Man sentenced for assaulting Veterans Affairs employee in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man was sentenced Monday for assaulting a Veterans Affairs employee in Fresno, the Department of Justice said.

According to the DOJ, the man, identified as 43-year-old Joseph Luis Alamo, committed the assault the day before Veterans’ Day.

The DOJ says that’s when Alamo encountered the employee outside the Fresno VA Hospital, punched them, and swung a knife, but missed.

On Dec. 15, Alamo pleaded guilty to the charge, and on Monday, he was sentenced to one year and a day in prison for his crimes.
