MARIPOSA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – An investment by the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office is proving to be helpful after deputies saved a baby’s life Monday.
The sheriff’s office said on Tuesday that they responded to a call involving a 16-month-old child who was choking.
When deputies arrived, the child was turning blue and was not breathing. That’s when a DeChoker, a device that can help remove choking obstructions from airways, came in handy.

The sheriff’s office made the decision to invest in DeChokers and place one in every vehicle years ago.
Deputies used the device, which dislodged the object from the child’s airway.
