Mountain Stories Deserve a Place at the Madera Fair

The Madera District Fair is looking for the stories that define Madera County, and that includes the people who call our mountain communities home.

With the launch of its new All American Story Project, Fair organizers are encouraging residents from throughout the county to nominate themselves or someone they know whose story deserves to be shared. It’s an opportunity for Eastern Madera County to ensure the people, families and traditions of our mountain communities are represented alongside the rest of the county.

The initiative will recognize community members in three categories:

  • All American Hero honors Madera County veterans and active-duty military members who have demonstrated outstanding service to both their country and their community.
  • All American Dream celebrates residents who came to America in search of opportunity and built a life in Madera County.
  • All American Agriculture highlights the generational farming families whose dedication helps feed America.

While agriculture often brings to mind the Valley’s orchards and vineyards, the mountain region also has no shortage of compelling stories. Veterans who continue serving their communities, families with deep roots in the Sierra foothills, ranching operations passed down through generations, and residents who came to America seeking a better future all help shape the character of Eastern Madera County.

The Fair is accepting nominations from throughout Madera County. Individuals may nominate themselves or be nominated by someone else. Each nomination must include a story of no more than 500 words describing the nominee’s impact, along with three high-resolution photographs.

Selected honorees will be recognized during the 2026 Madera Fair with a featured display throughout the event and will receive complimentary admission passes for two people.

The nomination deadline is July 30, 2026.

For those who have often said that the mountain communities don’t receive enough recognition, this is a chance to change that. If you know someone whose story reflects the values, resilience and spirit of Eastern Madera County, now is the time to share it.
