FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Downtown Fresno’s iconic G sign is returning to the city this weekend.
The larger-than-life 18-foot letter used to grace the old State Center Community College District office back when it belonged to “Guarantee Savings & Loan Association.”
Although the initials for the new building owners have changed, they say, “The replacement sign was constructed to honor the spirit of the past.”
That spirit filled downtown from 1965 to 1995. During that time, workers and visitors counted on it for weather information as they strolled the Fulton Mall.
On Saturday, they can once again.

The State Center Community College District says the replacement features LED lighting to follow the current exterior building lighting schemes that can change in recognition of commemorative events.
The new sign can be found atop the State Center Community College district office at 1171 Fulton Street on the corner of Fresno Street.
