FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The suspect accused of shooting an officer with the Fresno Police Department over the weekend has died.
Officers confirmed the news on Thursday, revealing that 56-year-old Paul Rodriguez Cisneros of Fresno had passed away from his injury.
When officers located Cisneros on Sunday, the day after he allegedly shot the Fresno Police officer, he was found with a gunshot wound to the head. Police say that gunshot wound to the head resulted in his death on Thursday.

According to police, Cisneros’ wife said he threatened to shoot her and had attempted to hit her with their car. When police arrived at Jensen Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard on Saturday night to confront him, they say he fired a gun, striking a 26-year-old officer in the arm and shoulder.
Cisneros fled the area and holed up in his house near Bardell and Vine avenues in southwest Fresno. When officers arrived inside, they found him on the floor of the garage with a gunshot wound to his head – but alive.
Cisneros later passed away in the hospital.
