IDENTIFIED: Woman found dead in Fresno canal named, ruled suspicious

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The woman who died after being pulled from a canal in west Fresno last week has been identified by officials.

The woman has been named as 50-year-old Georgiana McGhee of Fresno.

Police say that her death has been ruled as suspicious.

On May 10, officers responded to a canal around 11:40 p.m., near Neilsen and Hughes avenues.

When they arrived, they found McGhee unconscious in the water. They then quickly removed her. She died at the scene.

Police say that after the Fresno County Coroner’s Office did an autopsy, they ruled her death a homicide.
