There are few experiences in the mountain community that combine music, scenery, history, and atmosphere quite like the annual Yosemite Jazz Train series at the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad. Nestled in the Sierra National Forest just north of Oakhurst and minutes from Yosemite National Park, the beloved railroad attraction has officially announced its 2026 Yosemite Jazz Train concert lineup — and it is once again bringing nationally recognized artists to the pines for an intimate outdoor music experience unlike anywhere else in the region.
The Yosemite Jazz Train series has developed a loyal following over the years, drawing visitors from across California and beyond who are looking for more than just a concert. Each event blends live music with a historic train excursion, forest amphitheater setting, chef-prepared appetizers, and artist meet-and-greets — all tucked away beneath towering Sierra trees.
According to organizers, the three-hour all-inclusive experience begins at 3 p.m. with appetizers served from the “Sugar Pine Table,” while local beer and wine are available for purchase. Guests then board the historic train for a round-trip excursion before arriving at the secluded Lewis Creek Amphitheater for a 75-minute live performance in the forest.
The 2026 Yosemite Jazz Train lineup includes:
- Peter White — Sunday, June 28
- Rick Estrin & The Nightcats — Sunday, July 12
- Rick Braun — Sunday, August 16
- Richard Elliot — Sunday, August 30
- Jeff Kashiwa and Steve Oliver — Sunday, September 13
- Brian Bromberg, Paul Brown and Michael Paulo performing as BPM — Sunday, October 4

One of the unique aspects of the Yosemite Jazz Train experience is the setting itself. Rather than a traditional concert venue, performances take place at the Sugar Pine Lewis Creek Amphitheater deep within the forest. Campfire-style bench seating is provided, while guests are encouraged to bring blankets, cushions, or portable folding chairs for added comfort.
The event maintains a relaxed and interactive atmosphere. Photographs and smartphone videos are welcomed from guests’ seats, and after the concert concludes, passengers return aboard the train to the station where featured artists participate in a casual conversation and meet-and-greet session with attendees.
Located about 15 minutes north of Oakhurst directly off Highway 41, the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad has long been one of the area’s most recognizable family attractions. Originally built on the historic Madera Sugar Pine Lumber Company rail line, the railroad offers visitors a glimpse into the region’s logging history while providing seasonal experiences ranging from steam train rides to holiday-themed excursions.
For many locals and visitors alike, the Yosemite Jazz Train has become a signature summer tradition — combining world-class music with the unmistakable atmosphere of the Sierra.
Organizers remind guests that all tickets are sold rain or shine, and outside food or beverages are not permitted at the venue. Those with dietary or allergenic concerns are encouraged to contact organizers in advance after ticket purchase.
