The Bell Fire started at approximately 11:30 AM on March 26, 2026, approximately 3.5 miles north of Dickens, TX and was initially responded to by local fire departments. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance with aircraft, heavy equipment and firefighters. The fire is currently in joint command between Texas A&M Forest Service and local firefighters.
Extreme fire behavior is currently exhibited on the fire. Aerial and ground firefighting resources are on scene. Large air tankers are currently focusing on the left flank of the fire.
Highway 70 from Dickens, TX to Highway 193 is currently closed due to firefighting operations.
