FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Downtown Fresno is throwing its biggest party of the year, and the whole city is invited. FresYes Fest is back, and it is bringing a massive footprint to the heart of the city.
A full day of local food, craft beer, music, and vendors took over Fulton Street.
“We just had a grilled cheese sandwich from Cheese Me, Please Me, outstanding,” FresYes attendee Lourin Hubbard said.
“That’s one of my favorite things as it comes out and down here. And, I will try a food truck that I haven’t seen before or something unique,” FresYes attendee Poe said.
Whether it’s cheesy sandwiches or sizzling kebabs, over 80 local food trucks and vendors helped bring Fresno together.
“I just ran into this, and I saw all these people and all these vendors. It just looks nice. I was coming here to Fulton Mall to get my chain fix, so I ended up doing that too.”
Although the temperature outside is rising like gas prices, vendors like Fabio say they’re used to it.
“It’s always been about like, well, let me get some extra fans, some extra water. But I think most people are kind of willing to brave the weather just to get out and about and really just experience the community,” vendor Fabio said.
This year, Fabio said he’s seeing a healthier flow of folks.
“This one really does seem to bring out a lot of people who typically aren’t comfortable with or usually coming down to downtown Fresno,” Fabio said.
New this year, crowds can stroll through Chukchansi Park and still indulge in food, drinks and fun.
“This is small business working. But I love the fact that City of Fresno does sponsor events like this and it’s something that I want to look into continuing if I’m elected in the city council at some point,” attendee Monte Forkas said.
Because FresYes isn’t just another street fair, it’s proof that downtown Fresno is growing.
“I think it’s very important, especially if we’re going to have like the rail coming through here, that they need to start bringing businesses back here and give people things to do down here,” Poe said.
