60-year-old patient shoots Family Health Care Network employee in Fresno, police say

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Fresno Police Department is investigating a shooting in central Fresno early Thursday morning.

According to officials, the call came in at 8:21 a.m. about a shooting at Clinton and West avenues. Police say the caller reported upwards of five shots fired.

When officers arrived, officials say they were able to make contact with the shooter in the lobby and arrested the suspect without incident.

The victim was identified as a 30-year-old female employee of the company found in another part of the building. Officials say officers rendered first aid, and the victim was transported to a local hospital for care.

Police say the shooter was identified as a 60-year-old male patient at the Family Health Care Network.

The patient was guided into a back room for a scheduled appointment when he brandished a firearm and shot multiple times at the victim’s upper body, officers say.

The unidentified 60-year-old was arrested at the scene. Video of that arrest can be viewed in the player below.

The woman is in critical but stable condition, and officials say the clinic will remain closed for the rest of the day.

The shooting is still under investigation; officials say more details will be made available as the investigation continues.
