COARSEGOLD, CA – The Coarsegold Rodeo is inviting the community to take part in selecting its 2026 Grand Marshal, an honorary role that recognizes an individual who reflects the values and spirit of both the rodeo and the Coarsegold community.

According to the rodeo, the Grand Marshal is chosen to represent the heart of Coarsegold and its long-standing western traditions. Community members are encouraged to vote for nominees who demonstrate a strong commitment to the Coarsegold area through service, leadership, or volunteerism. Nominees may also be recognized for their support of youth, preservation of tradition, or dedication to western heritage. Additional qualities considered in the selection include integrity and a positive impact within the community. Voting closes February 15.

Historic Community Event in Its 73rd Year
The Coarsegold Rodeo is one of California’s enduring western traditions, bringing professional rodeo action, youth competitions and family-oriented festivities to the foothills the first weekend in May. The annual event has drawn generations of visitors and competitors, celebrating ranching heritage and community spirit for more than seven decades.

Rodeo Grounds Enter New Era Under Steward Ownership
The Coarsegold Rodeo Grounds, the historic 38-acre venue that hosts the annual rodeo and a variety of equestrian and community events, entered a new chapter in recent years with new ownership. In 2024, Ryan and Melissa Steward became the proprietors of the grounds, succeeding previous stewards of the property. The couple has since invested in facility upgrades, including improvements to seating, stables and infrastructure, with a vision of preserving the site’s rustic character while enhancing comfort and utility for visitors and participants alike.

The Stewards’ ongoing enhancements aim to support not only the annual rodeo but expanded uses of the grounds, positioning it as a versatile western event venue for community gatherings beyond rodeo weekend.
