FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The days after Christmas are known to be busy with travelers returning home from their holiday plans. However, at the Fresno Yosemite International Airport, it was a silent night.
“I thought it was going to be really packed, actually, because it’s the day after Christmas, but it actually seemed emptier than normal,” Traveler from Merced Jeremiah Azer said. He added that this was his first time flying out of Fresno.
“I just came in from Houston, Texas, right now, so I’m just coming back home. I have family there, so, yeah, just visiting my family for Christmas,” Azer said. “We landed earlier than usual, except that actually everything was fine. I usually fly into San Francisco. I just don’t want to drive back.”
It was a different story at San Francisco International. According to our sister station KRON, a suspicious package and windy weather led to more than 190 flight delays and about 20 cancellations. But people flying to and from Fresno tonight are grateful for the easy-going travels.
“I flew here for the holidays, for Christmas. A lot of fun. And all my cousins for a week,” Traveler from San Diego Caden Braness said. “Flying here, I had a delay for an hour. The flight crew wasn’t here.”
An empty airport decked with holiday decor, now waits for its next wave of passengers.
