Man dead after crashing into tree in Fresno County orchard

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man died on Christmas morning after crashing into a tree in an orchard in Fresno County, the California Highway Patrol said.

At around 12:35 a.m., CHP responded to the area of Henderson Avenue, between Floral Avenue and Rose Avenue in an unincorporated area of the county.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a man was traveling northbound on Henderson Avenue.

CHP said that the vehicle traveled over standing water on the roadway, which caused the driver to lose control. The vehicle then traveled in a northwesterly direction and left the roadway. The driver then drove into an adjacent orchard and crashed into a tree.

The crash resulted in major damage to the car. CHP said the man, who was the driver, was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is an ongoing investigation.
