Oakhurst, CA – Helping One Woman Oakhurst will be honoring Lori Serrano at their September dinner. The dinner will be held on September 16, 2025, at 6 pm. The event will take place at the Mountain Christian Center, located behind Bryants Ace Hardware in Oakhurst.
At just 20 years old, Lori was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Rather than let it stop her, she finished nursing school at the top of her class and began her career at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. When MS made bedside care impossible, Lori transitioned into case management, walking hospital floors to ensure patients received the care they needed.
At 29, she was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma during an MS study, but continued working and serving in her church with the same unwavering spirit. Lori moved to Oakhurst to be closer to her family and found community through Mountain Christian Center and Oakhurst Board and Care, where she built deep friendships and continued to be a source of light to those around her.
A recent fall left Lori with a fractured femur and ribs, requiring a temporary move to a valley care facility. Still, her goal is clear: regain strength, return to Oakhurst, and once again be among the people and the mountains she calls home.
Through every challenge, Lori has remained positive, faithful and focussed on others. She’s a woman who gives without hesitation, uplifts without effort, and lives her life as a quiet example of grace and resilience. Now it’s our turn to celebrate her.
Please join us to honor Loris’ life, legacy, and strength.
