Arrest in $30,000 courier scam in Fresno, police say

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – An arrest has been made in what investigators describe as a “sophisticated” courier scam that targeted a Fresno resident, police said Thursday.

Officers say the suspects falsely posed as law enforcement officers and contacted the victim through text message. They claimed that the victim’s credit cards had been used to purchase illicit materials online.

Police say the suspects demanded a cash payment of $30,000 from the victim, in lieu of the victim’s arrest.

Police said they later arrested 32-year-old Dehua Zou for his alleged involvement in the scam.
